Spring-tekom: gds scores with new industrial sector specific solution from XR/engineering

Great response to new developments of gds Group | XML-based industrial sector specific solution supports systems and mechanical engineers with reduced time to market cycles | Growing importance of industrial sector specific solutions | Continued high interest in docuglobe editorial management system

Sassenberg / Koblenz, April 20, 2018 – Industrial sector specific editorial management systems play a role of growing importance. This is reflected by the great response of the audience to XR/engineering, an XML-based solution of gds Group geared toward the requirements of machinery and systems engineering. Numerous visitors seized the opportunity to obtain more information about the features of the new solution at the booth of gds during the spring conference of tekom. The context-relevant completion of tasks, the high usability and the modern, lean architecture in particular of the XR/engineering system convinced the audience of trade experts.

“We have been watching the ever growing requirements for technical writers in reference to industrial sector specific solutions,” says Klaus Fenchel, managing director of Ovidius GmbH, which is part of gds Group and the company who has developed the XR system family. “The acute interest in our XR/engineering solution has shown that the machinery and systems engineering market especially has, without the use of a corresponding editorial management system, failed to fully utilize valuable potentials.” This holds true particularly in times of increasing global competition, when it is essential for companies to optimize all processes involved in the generation of a product’s added value to remain competitive. For this reason, an efficient technical documentation process is playing a role of growing importance.

Visitors to the exhibition quickly caught on to the advantages of the XR/engineering system. The XML-based editorial management system offers a high-performance, highly scalable and yet easy to use solution for all industrial sector specific requirements for machinery and systems engineering. Technical writers can, for instance, extensively classify any content to have maintenance tables and lists of consumables and tools created automatically based on the previously classified content. The optimized management of variants is a further advantage of the XR/engineering system. It enables the quick and straightforward publication of product variants. Furthermore, technical writers can define individual workflows and user roles.

The comprehensive range of features and configuration options does not adversely affect the usability of the XR/engineering system however. Thanks to an intuitive editor, the XML-based editorial management system is easy to use without profound knowledge of XML, so that the XR/engineering system is comparable to the ease of use of MS Word.

The established docuglobe editorial management system was naturally a further highlight at the exhibition booth of gds, receiving an undiminished high interest of MS Word users. “Strategically speaking, it was the correct decision within the context of the full service provided by gds to have a solution in our product range for both XML-based and MS Word-based applications,” explained Ulrich Pelster, managing director of gds. “This is the only way to be able to offer the right solution that meets all of the needs of our customers.”
