gds GmbH recently presented the newest version of their XML authoring system: XR Kaltern. This update introduces a number of improvements and new features to make everyday work much easier for editors.

One outstanding improvement is the seamless integration of the DeepL translation service. This feature enables content to be machine-translated directly in the system, speeding up the translation process and optimizing the workflow.

Smarter document structure for an improved overview

XR offers improved module status visualization. Color-coded markings and an expanded cross-reference manager allow you to see the structure of documents at a glance and navigate them efficiently.

Personalized file names for context-sensitive help

With the new release, users can now define custom file names for modules in HTML5 exports or refer to existing HelpIDs. This makes it easier to create context-sensitive help by accessing specific HTML files or HelpID-based references. PDF exports can be configured with custom file names so that output can be tailored to individual needs.

Context-specific configuration for individual workflows

Another improvement concerns context-specific configuration. Users can now adjust columns individually for different Explorer views. These settings are saved per view, allowing for more focused and efficient management of modules, media, and other objects.

Update availability

The new release is available now. Existing customers have already been notified and can complete the update process on their own.
