- Working efficiently by applying a set of predefined rules
Sassenberg, November 11, 2019 – Authoring assistance, controlled language and consistently applied terminology: gds GmbH, a full-service provider for technical documentation, cooperates with Congree Language Technologies GmbH. The objective of the cooperation is to extend the XR editorial management system to include a link to the Congree Authoring Server.
“We are excited about the opportunity of further extending our portfolio by cooperating with a company specialized in content optimization so that technical documentation can be composed even faster, more efficiently, and of higher quality than otherwise,” says Ms. Anne Kudla, Head of Sales of XML-based technologies at gds GmbH. This partnership enables gds to assist its customers concerning linguistic aspects as early as during the composition of documentation. “The authoring support feature offered by Congree will be linked to the XR editorial management system provided by gds, where tools like grammar and spell checking and review including style and terminology are offered based on linguistic intelligence.”
Linguistics-based authoring assistance in XR
Congree Language Technologies GmbH focuses on the mode of operation of technical writers. The Karlsruhe-based company thus offers technological services for producing texts that are consistent with defined style rules and uniform use of terminology taken into consideration. The Congree Authoring Server offers a comprehensive review tool regarding linguistic aspects. The software supports technical writers in composing texts that abide by predefined sets of rules and comply with desired style rules, among other features.
It will be possible to call up a wide variety of information concerning linguistic deficiencies in XR thanks to the collaboration between gds and Congree. “With this partnership our solutions will be combined with the specialized expertise of gds,” explained Mr. Stefan Kreckwitz, Chief Executive Office of Congree Language Technologies GmbH. “This way, we can continue to further optimize the content-relevant process of gds customers.” The Authoring Server can be easily integrated into XR thanks to standardized integration features. The system can be used in the familiar work environment so there is no additional effort required by gds customers for learning the ins and outs of a new application. Congree offers a style-rule based linguistic review following the tekom guideline, or – specifically for the English language – conforming to the current Simplified Technical English (STE) guidelines. You will be able to work even more efficiently by applying predefined rules and standards via the clearly organized XR interface. The XML-based editorial management system uses a DITA-based DTD (Document Type Definition) and is optimized to meet the requirements of individual sectors so that it can be quickly deployed with a minimum of configuration effort. This enables technical writers to extensively classify contents even without prior knowledge of XML.
