Efficient, user-friendly, high-performance: gds presents the new Jesolo release of the XR XML content management system
- Automated updates
- Increased user friendliness
- Enhanced media compatibility
Sassenberg, July 8, 2024 – gds GmbH introduces the new Jesolo release of its XML content management system XR. This update comprises essential updates and practical functions which are engineered to automate the system update process and once again considerably increase the efficiency and user friendliness of the content management process for all users.
gds GmbH's new release of XML content management system XR provides a number of functions specifically aimed at increasing the user friendliness and efficient working with the established XML content management system XR. With automated updates, improved media compatibility and upgraded diagnostics functions, this release raised the user experience to a completely new level.
Simplified installation and automated updates
The new release makes the installation process considerably more straightforward. A new installation assistant guides the users step by step through all the necessary configurations. In order to be up-to-date at all times on existing systems, with the continuous delivery model, the update provides a very practical new function. Behind this is an automatism for regular and fast updates via the Internet. For users of XR, this means that they have access to software updates immediately and continuously with very little extra effort. Both the XR server and the corresponding clients are thus up-to-date at all times.
Increased user friendliness
One function for the increase of user friendliness is the highlighting of modules which have not been translated. They are automatically displayed with a yellow background and pooled in "hybrid documentation" which is available to translators as an accompanying document. This supports the translation process as it ensures that the terminology is consistent with documents which have already been translated.
Moreover, users have the option of switching between a light and dark mode in order to adapt the software flexibly to their individual preferences. In order to improve the accessibility for visually impaired users, the contrast has been increased significantly within the user interface.
For system administrators, there are updates in the display of the operating status. There are clear indications of the server instance, memory management and a memory enabling function.
The Jesolo release makes much improved functions for fragment management available which increase efficiency and transparency in content management. The most important updates include the version display which now allows users to see the current version in the editor itself and in the preview. It is also easier to mark fragments as obsolete and return them, making for clearer content management. The direct processing of names, properties and status in the editor accelerates processing and allows for quick reaction to change requirements without having to exit the processing environment. These updates provide increased control and flexibility which make the content management process significantly more efficient.
Enhanced media compatibility
The enhanced media compatibility is a potent new function which provides users of XR with a number of new options for including different types of accompanying documentation and supplementary information with delivery of their documents. More specifically, it is the "Miscellaneous" import function. This unspectacular sounding function makes it easier to import a number of media formats, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AVI and ZIP. Thus, users of XR can import a wide range of file formats directly and link them in the content.
