A powerful duo for product compliance – gds and reuschlaw Legal Consultants start cooperation

  • Comprehensive support around compliance and efficiency
  • Legal assessment meets content support
  • Expertise for CE and UKCA marking etc.

Sassenberg, August 17, 2021 – A perfect symbiosis: gds GmbH and reuschlaw Legal Consultants start consultancy cooperation on the topic of product conformity. This means that customers benefit from even more comprehensive support. As a competence center for technical communication and information management, gds contributes know-how in compliant and efficient implementation in risk assessment, technical standards and technical documentation. reuschlaw, as a leading economic consultancy in product liability law, provides legal advice, assesses coverage, derives process contents and supports the design of distribution concepts.

“Thanks to our new cooperation with reuschlaw Legal Consultants, we now provide support from two sides in EU conformity and international product compliance,” says Ludger Bruns, Head of Service Consulting at gds GmbH. This will enable customers to receive even more intensive support. “With immediate effect, we can now offer one-stop, full service support in both technical and legal areas – whether consulting, training or implementation.”

The service portfolios of both companies form a perfect symbiosis. gds primarily supports its customers in technical and content-related compliance as well as the efficient implementation of technical documentation. The competence center from Sassenberg therefore focuses on risk assessment, conformity issues, and the evaluation of technical standards. Technical Documentation yields particular added value. Accordingly, gds ensures that all relevant documents are available and provides support in the creation and setup of structures.

Always on the safe side – including legalities

The law firm reuschlaw Legal Consultants has been consulting nationally and internationally active companies since 2004. The company focuses on product safety and product liability law as well as on data protection & cybersecurity with regard to products and digital services. reuschlaw will take over coverage evaluation, coordination of insurance coverage and derivation of process content within the scope of the new cooperation. In addition, reuschlaw offers support in designing a sales concept, with a focus on legal assessment within the framework of technical documentation. This includes checking document completeness from a legal perspective and identifying the regulatory framework.

Meeting current challenges

Compliant labeling is an important aspect where the partnership offers added value to affected companies, and not only against the Brexit background. Product labels such as CE, EAC, CCC, etc. are therefore no longer the only ones that matter, as Philipp Reusch, attorney and founding partner of reuschlaw Legal Consultants, explains: “With the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark, the British have now enacted their own regulation that partly deviates from the EU requirements, so exporters have to consider two different approaches to conformity.” This leads to great uncertainty, he said. “For the future, the implementation of the previously existing regulations and the implementation of relevant processes are now important.” Here, gds and reuschlaw offer companies comprehensive support covering all relevant aspects.
